Storage Bridge is a software only HSM policy and tiering solution that transparently extends the XProtect VMS local volume to on-premise Object or Public Cloud, NAS, or Tape. Bridge simply installs on the physical or virtual VMS server extending the local file system capabilities by intelligently managing the placement of files based on user defined policies. With Bridge, XProtect VMS can use private, public, or hybrid cloud storage natively with NO dedicated volume mounts for file staging, NO gateway servers, and NO complicated database management. Bridge policies provide: Replication for fast file access with local and target file copies; Reclaim for capacity management with local stub files and full copy on the target; Supports low-cost cloud archive tier for storage of infrequently accessed files. Multiple sites can be synchronized then automatically, or on-demand, restore new or changed files. Supports Active Directory and preserves file security descriptors including ACLs.
